Designer Xavier Pauchard (Burgandy 1880-1948)
Pair this sunny, bright yellow tolix stool with a retro Formica table set with Fiestaware. Or sit these lemon coloured stools under a sleek, smooth, black laminate counter topped with yellow and black speckled orchids. Line up a bunch of these bold, happy stools at your coffee house counter for an added a pop of colour. Cool enough to be retro, simple enough to be rustic, classically constructed enough to be timeless, these stools will be a unique element of your kitchen, café or restaurant.
When you think of Xavier Pauchard’s iconic chairs and stools you think of French country homes and sidewalk cafes, smoky bars, bistros, and perhaps even the occasional brothel. What an utterly iconic classic. This stool’s pleasing shape was a familiar sight in the bars and brasseries around France. The Xavier Pauchard Tolix line, first manufactured in 1934, has garnered a strong following from the start. But being a designer piece, it has carried a designer price tag.
Our Relax House replica, priced a bit more down to earth, has become a favourite among our customers too. Our replica Tolix stool, seen here in yellow, is manufactured from the same materials and in the same way, as its predecessor. This stool has an instantly recognizable form and a malleable style that makes it equally appropriate for a French patisserie or a sleek and chic European restaurant. This particular stool sits at a height of 45cm making it suitable for most tables and our stool is easily stackable making it a good fit for the busy restaurant or tavern.
