Important Steps To Re-Upholster a Chairchair seat

It’s a dream of every one to decorate their home and make it look attractive, but they are scared to work on that as there is a deficiency of time. Here we a talking about how to Re-Upholster a Chair.

It is necessary to take a photo of a chair before it is torn. It is important to have complete picture of chair in order to make it shape as it was earlier. Upholstery has to be removed without any damage made to chair. If it is torn, we can’t have a clear pattern of chair. It is always better to use scissors and pliers to tear the chair.

Black cloth which is there in the chair has to be removed from the bottom. Then take out every part carefully and mark it. Original pieces are taken and they are assembled and pattern must be observed. Old pieces are safely pinned and one has to check for the requirement of welting. Welting has to be stapled to the chair along with the fabrics by ensuring a proper fit. Then pin and make sure all the parts of chair are stapled and have a correct outfit. After removing extra fabrics from the chair, product is accomplished.

These are steps that I took to re-upholster dining room chairs:

1.    I used drill to remove 4 screws, which connected seat to a frame.

2.    When you have seat the separate from frame of chair, then cut out batting & fabric to size. (Ensure that you have some inches on all the sides to glue and staple fabric to chair).

3.    Place seat top down on batting and start on each side with hot glue gun (and heavy duty stapler) & glue down fabric.

4.    Ensure to pull batting tight you can, and then (glue and staple). Go every inch, pulling then gluing. Continue on all four sides of seat till all the fabric is glued down & pulled tight.

5.    Now, repeat same process with fabric and lay fabric face down & lay seat face down on the top. Repeat step four until fabric is glued & tight on all the four sides.

Conclusion

Now seats are all re-upholstered, you have to secure seat back to frame and I screwed 4 screws back to frame & my chairs were done.
